DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while drunk or high down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
