Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol rehabilitation center because of alcohol or drug related offense. This will happen for example when someone is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, or any other type of drug related crime that has led the judge to think that the individual has any type of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment facility as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered by the court it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they're able to to get the most from this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences may be totally eradicated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and completes the drug treatment program that has been ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who do experience treatment instead of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or similar consequences.
