DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
