DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system.
