DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab facilities are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be required to go to rehab either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
