Outpatient treatment gives rehabilitation clients the opportunity to sustain certain obligations and elements of their lifestyle while taking part in drug treatment services. Outpatient treatment is a moderate amount of rehabilitation, and should not be mistaken for the level of treatment provided within an inpatient or residential rehab setting that is significantly more extensive. Outpatient treatment may be suitable for someone who has a short history of drug abuse for example, but will almost certainly not be adequate for an individual whose rehab needs go beyond that which outpatient treatment is prepared to offer. Individuals involved in drug abuse often need a considerable change of environment, because many of the things which trigger their drug abuse are purely environmental. For instance, if someone else is being physically or emotionally abused and this is triggering their drug or alcohol use, it's impossible for any treatment endeavours to achieve success whenever they go back to such situations every day. In outpatient treatment, clients can take advantage of group and individual counseling, along with family therapy services. In outpatient treatment, most facilities offer services 5 to 7 days a week on either a part time or full-time schedule for 1 month or longer in some instances.
