DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
