DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
