DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
