DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehab due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
