Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug and alcohol treatment facility because of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example if someone is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related offense that has led the court to believe the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of taking part in a drug treatment center as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered by the judge it is wise that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this chance. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences may be entirely eliminated or lessened in the event the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the drug and alcohol treatment program which was ordered for them. First-time offenders will be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that experience treatment in lieu of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to prison time or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain powerful rehabilitation.
