DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehabilitation programs are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while under the influence down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
