DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug rehab as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while under the influence down the road.
