DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while under the influence later on.
