Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program due to a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for example if a person is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or any other type of drug related crime which has led the judge to believe that the individual has any type of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehab program as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered through the judge it really is wise that the individual try everything they can to take full advantage of this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences can be completely eradicated or lessened if the individual does well in treatment and finishes the alcohol and drug rehabilitation program which has been ordered for them. New offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients that do experience rehabilitation in place of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to time in jail or similar consequences. In the end, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective treatment.
