DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
