DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
