DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
