Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of alcohol and drug treatment facility as a result of a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for example if someone else is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related criminal offense that has led the court to believe the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in an alcohol and drug treatment program as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered from the court it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they are able to to benefit from this chance. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences may be completely eradicated or lessened when the individual succeeds in treatment and completes the alcohol and drug rehab facility that has been ordered for them. First time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients who do experience rehabilitation in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to jail time or similar consequences. Eventually, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain powerful treatment.
