DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
