DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
