DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
