DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug treatment facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
