DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while under the influence in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
