DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
