DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehab either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
