DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence later on.
