Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any type of alcohol and drug rehab facility because of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will occur for example if someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or any other type of drug related offense which has led a legal court to think the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug treatment center as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered through the court it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they are able to to benefit from this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the alcohol and drug rehab center that has been ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that experience rehab in lieu of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to jail time or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
