DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
