DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug treatment due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
