Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug and alcohol treatment facility on account of alcohol or drug related crime. This will happen for example when someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, or for any other type of drug related offense that has led the judge to believe that the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of taking part in a drug treatment facility as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered through the court it is wise that the individual do everything they can to make the most of this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be totally eradicated or lessened when the individual does well in treatment and finishes the alcohol and drug rehabilitation center that is ordered for them. Very first time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients that do take part in rehab in place of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to prison time or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
