DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
