DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while intoxicated down the road.
