DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
