DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
