DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
