DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
