DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
