DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
