DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
