DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
