DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high later on. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
