DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
