DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
