DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
