Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of drug and alcohol treatment facility as a result of a drug or alcohol related crime. This will occur for instance if someone is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, or any other type of drug related criminal offense that has led the court to think that the individual has any kind of substance abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug treatment facility as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered from the judge it's well advised that the individual do everything they're able to to take full advantage of this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences may be totally eradicated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and completes the alcohol and drug treatment center that is ordered for them. New offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do experience treatment in lieu of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to prison time or similar consequences. Eventually, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive effective treatment.
