DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
