DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
