DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while under the influence in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
