DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
